This is what someone did to their attic for storage space. I love this idea! My hubby and I have always said when we build a house we want to have some storage room up there because it is usually just wasted space. I love the little shelves they built for all the bins.

These are inside out chocolate strawberries. I love this idea because when you bite into them you don't have chocolate crumbling off. Genius!! I also love that you can put them into the egg carton to set up!

Family Established Sign

Just over a month ago my cousin got married. The family had a shower for her a few days before the wedding. My mom helped put together the Shower of "Firsts." Everyone who is invited gets assigned a "first" for the couple - examples: first fight, first junk drawer, first holiday, first gift wrapping, etc. It is such a fun shower to give to couples getting married. Since my mom was in charge of the invitations and assigning people their "firsts" she let me choose what I wanted to do. Of course I had to choose "First Home Decor!!"

I wanted to create something fun for their house that included their last name and the year they were established. With the pallet board decor being so in right now I had to do a cute sign using the boards from a pallet.

Here is what I came up with:

First, I picked out boards that looked good together.

Then my hubby helped me by attaching smaller pieces of wood to the back to attach them together. As well as some wire so she can hang it up!

Next, I cut out their last name on my cricut. I went with a basic font. I didn't want it too fancy. I also cut out the established 2012. I used the outline of all the lettering and stuck that to the sign, leaving space for embellishments.

Then I took some cream craft paint and painted the words on the board. I forgot to take a picture of this step! I put 2 light coats on it and when it fully dried I pulled the vinyl off.
{I never realized until I pulled the vinyl off that their last name is a little crooked. But I LOVE that because it just goes with the whole old fashioned look I was going for!!}

I wanted to put something fun on to embellish it. I decided on some paper pinwheel flowers. I love how they turned out!
To see how to make them, go HERE. I did make these ones bigger by gluing two strips of paper together.

Lastly, I hot glued those to the board.

My cousin loved it, as well as everyone else that was there!!

Happy Birthday Blocks

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!
The starting of ours was a little scary.
Friday morning I was doing dishes. My little boy was in the family room playing with his Tonka dump truck and being so cute with it. All the sudden he started screaming. I went over to where he was and noticed he was bleeding just under his lip. I picked him up to look at it closer and realized he had bit all the way through his lip! I started balling and had my little girl run down and grab my husband. {Thank goodness he was still home!} He looked at it and said we have to take him in. We rushed down to the instacare (this was our first time taking either of our kids in) and luckily is was small enough width wise that they were just able to glue it together. He is doing much better now!
Poor Little Guy:(

***********************************************

Today I wanted to share a fun tradition with you that I recently started!

I wanted to make something cute and fun to put out for everyones Birthday in our family. Of course it had to be something that could go for both boys and girls. I racked through my brain and finally decided to make a
Happy Birthday Sign out of blocks.

Here is how I made it:

I cut out 3 blocks that are 3"x3 1/2" and 1 1/2" thick and 2 blocks that are 3"x3" and 1 1/2" thick . Then I cut out a long one that is 3 1/4"x19 1/2". I wanted it thick so I could get the Birthday on it so it is 1 1/2" thick.

After I got them sanded, I painted them. I wanted to make it really bright and fun since its for birthdays. I also wanted to make it unisexual.
The colors I used are:
Big Board: Butter Cream by craft smart

The blocks from left to right:
Sea Breeze by Americana
Apple Tart by craft smart
Purple by craft smart
Light Orange by craft smart
Coral Blush by Americana

I did 3 coats on all of them because I didn't really want the wood to show through. On the light orange I did 5 coats. It wasn't going on very well!

Then I found fun Birthday paper and bright paper to match the colors of the paint. I then cut them down to size. I cut them smaller than the blocks so I could see the paint around the paper.

Next, I cut the Happy Birthday in black vinyl. For the Happy I did each letter in a different font. I wanted it to look fun. Here is what I used for each letter:
H- His Name is Honey found Here

A- Wish I Were Taller found Here

P-  Bosshole found Here

P-  Monster Paparazzi found Here

Y- Auburn found Here

Birthday- Elephants in Cherry Trees found Here

After I cut those out on my cricut I stuck them on to the paper. Then I mod podged the paper to the blocks. On the big birthday block I put a thin layer of mod podge over the vinyl so it wouldn't have a chance of coming off!!

Now we are done!! Super Easy and I LOVE how they turned out!!! It is just so bright and fun for everyone's birthdays!

I know everyone has loved having this out on there special day!

{I have a funny story about this stuff. One day my hubby and I were watching Myth Busters. My little girl was in the room while we were watching it. The episode we were watching they had made a huge batch of this goop and were running on it and then the guy sat there and sunk into it. My little girl LOVED watching him do this. To this day she keeps saying she wants to watch the one with the goopy stuff!! I wanted to look up how to make it so she could play with it. Well I didn't have to! The VERY NEXT DAY I went onto Pinterest and there it was! It was so meant to be that I had this recipe! HAHA!! I will be making this one day with my little ones!}
This stuff is called Magic Mud. It is cornstarch and water mixed together. If you punch it quickly it turns to a solid. Then if you slowly put your hand in it turns to liquid.
