Hi All!!

I hope you had a fantastic week!! I have had such a fun week. My sister has been staying with us with her new baby. It amazes me how much my baby is not a baby anymore:( Sad day. Why do they have to grow up way too fast?!? It has been fun to have a little baby around again!

St. Patrick's Day Mantel

I have never been big on decorating for this holiday, I am not sure why, but I just haven't. I decided this year that I wanted to be more into it and thought it would be fun to do a couple fun things for my mantel. Here is a full picture of it:

**For the Luck frames, I used the frames from THIS Valentine's Decor. I thought it would be good to reuse these for different holidays. They are 3 1/2"x5" Frames. I got some green scrapbook paper and cut them down to size and then cut the word LUCK out in brown vinyl on my cricut. Super Easy!

(Its a little hard to see, but the dark green paper has 3 leaf clovers on it and the other is lime green polka dots!)

**The Subway Art I downloaded and printed HERE @ the Amazing Funky Polkadot Giraffe.

Then I put it in a frame I had on hand.

**For the Vases on the right side:

I have seen so many things like these on Pinterest and wanted to make some for myself. I went to hobby lobby and found the pretty candle stands and bought E-6000. I had the vases on hand....I bought a bunch at the Dollar Store awhile back.

Then I glued the vases to the stands! Super Simple!!

Inside the vases are BEANS!! I saw a cute idea that someone had done for Valentine's by spray painting beans. I fell in love with the idea. I just had to do this in colors for St. Patrick's!!

I only used a bag and a half for this project. I left a layer of white, then painted a layer of light green and a layer of dark green.

They were so easy to paint!! I had to do a few coats to get them all colored, but it dried pretty fast so it wasn't bad.

Here is what they look like:

I LOVE the way they turned out!! I am also super excited to reuse them for other holidays!!

One night when I was browsing Pinterest I came across a cool idea using a canvas painting where they added a quote on top of the picture and painted over the whole canvas. It looked really cool and caused me to want to try it out! I had a blank canvas on hand so I had to do some painting of my own to make this work.

I wanted to make this for St. Patricks Day so I had to come up with a quote for the holiday. I came up with, "I am lucky like a four leaf clover." I had a vision in my mind when getting started and I knew I wanted to put a four leaf clover on it somewhere. I kept this in mind when doing my painting.

To get started I painted the canvas dark green and did a little light green square where the 4 leaf clover is going to go.

I know it looks super funny and its not perfect...but it will be getting painted over!

Next, I designed my quote and cut it out in vinyl on my cricut. I used the font Wish I Were Taller found HERE. I then stuck that onto the canvas.

Then I took white spray paint and painted the whole canvas. I did 3 coats on the top.

When that dried I peeled the vinyl letters off.

Super cute!!! I was done at this point for awhile, but then after looking at it, decided I didn't like the stark white color so I got some stain out and rubbed some on...

I Love, Love the way it looks with the stain! I am glad I decided to add it on!!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend!! I definitely did! We went to Wyoming visiting my husbands Grandparents. It was so nice to have a little R&R:)

I also wanted to let you all know that over the weekend I got Featured not once but TWICE for my {p.s. i love you} note board!!! WAHOO! I am so excited about this if you couldn't tell! Let's get to today's craft, shall we??

Since St. Patrick's is quickly approaching I thought is was finally time to get some cute crafts done. I really don't have much decor so I was happy to finally make some things!! Today I have a fun little St. Patrick's Day craft for you. It is a Leprechaun Hat made out of wood. I thought this was perfect for the holiday and just had to make one!!

To Make This, You Will Need:

-4 square pieces of wood (3=6"x1 1/2" & 1=7" x 1 1/2")

-Wood Glue

-Clamps

-Screws

-Green Paint

-Black Ribbon

-Four leaf clover

How To Make This:

First, you will want to sand the edges of the wood a little bit to make them smooth if they are not already.

Next, you will need to glue the 3 smaller pieces together with some wood glue. After you get them glued it is best to put a clamp on them to hold them together tight. Let that dry overnight.

After it is completely dry, you will screw the bigger piece on the bottom of the other 3. My handy man hubby helped me with this part!!

Next, you will paint the whole hat green.

Lastly, embellish with black ribbon and a four leaf clover!

(The 4 leaf clover looks yellow, but it really is not. It is lime green)

Now you have a cute little Leprechaun Hat for St. Patrick's!!

Glow Sticks in the Bath & Got Caught Being Good

We are now at the last day of this weeks series:

Today I have a fun activity for the kids during bath time and also a fun thing to do with your kids to reinforce positive behavior.

This bath time activity is super simple. All you need is a bunch of glow sticks!! Just break them and throw them in the tub with the kiddos. You can leave the lights off in the bathroom because the glow sticks give them enough light in the room.

My kids LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this little activity!!! They were so good in the bath the days that we did it. Normally they are screaming and splashing..getting water everywhere. But for this they were so calm and loved playing with the glow sticks!

***FYI: You can freeze the glow sticks to use for another time in the tub!! It is amazing that they still light up days later!!!

The second thing I have for you today is something we recently started with our kids. It is called

"Got Caught Being Good."

I decided that is was time to start reinforcing their good behavior instead of always focusing on the negative and what they can do to be better. My hubby built this little board for me with a box on it to use.

Of course I had to decorate it first!!! I started by spray painting the whole thing white.

Next, I stained the whole thing with the color Early American. I just love the brown color I get when doing this!

Then I took Chalkboard Paint and painted the front of the box. This is where we are going to keep a tally of their good behavior!

Next, I made a some cute flowers to spice it up and make it fun! Of course I had to do boy and girl colors since its for both my kids!! The tutorials on how to make them can be found HERE.

Then I cut out "Got Caught Being Good!" in black and pink vinyl on my cricut. I used the font Smiley Monster found HERE.

Lastly, I got some chalk and wrote my kids name on the chalkboard so I can put a tally by their name when they Get Caught Being Good!

Inside the box I put treats and goodies. When they get 5 tally marks they can pick one out!!

It has been working so well for us so far. It has definitely helped me focus more on their positive behavior which is much nicer!!

Weather Experiment & Cloud Dough

Welcome to Day 2 of:

Today I have a couple more activities to do with your kiddos. For Day 1's Activities go HERE.

The first one is a Weather Experiment. I was excited to do this with Kaitlyn. I wanted to teach her about rain and clouds. She had a lot of fun helping me.

For this you will need:

-A clear glass or clear plastic cup

-Shaving Cream

-Blue Food Coloring

-Water

To do this experiment you will first need to fill the cup up with water. We filled ours about 3/4 of the way.

Next, we put in a bunch of shaving cream on top of the water. This acts as our "clouds" for the experiment. Kaitlyn had fun putting it in!!

Then I taught her about the rain and how it comes from the clouds. I put a few drops of blue food coloring in acting as our "rain." She was able to see how it rains from the "clouds!"

Watching it "rain!!!"

Kaitlyn had so much fun with this experiment!!

The second activity I have for you is Cloud Dough. It totally feels like flour but it can be molded!! It is amazing!

CLOUD DOUGH RECIPE:

-8 CUPS FLOUR

-1 CUP BABY OIL

We used a 9x13 metal pan to put it all in.

This is the 8 cups of flour.

Adding the 1 cup baby oil:

**I mixed it together with a spoon first and then mixed it with my hands to make sure the baby oil got over all the flour.

THE AMAZING CLOUD DOUGH!!!!

Kaitlyn absolutely loved this! She played for hours:)

We even pulled out some cookie cutters!

Snow Art & No Mess Painting

This week I am going to be doing a series called:

I thought it would be fun to show you some things that I have been doing with my kids recently. I have been trying to think outside the box...mostly due to Pinterest!!...to have more fun with my kids doing things at home. Trying different experiments and things to play with. I just wanted to get them out of there usual playing with the toys in the house, coloring in coloring books and playing games.

Today I have a couple of different ideas for the kids to color and paint with that are not the usual.

The first is coloring in the snow!!! We live in Utah and so we get snow every winter. This year it has been really mild. Most of the winter has felt like spring. We have only had like 3 big storms that brought snow to the valley's that stayed around for a couple of days. Luckily we had one of those storms a couple of weekends ago!!!

To do this you will need:

-A couple of bottles with a small spout on it

-Food Coloring

-Water

We got our bottles and filled them up with water and added a couple drops of food coloring in. Then shook it to mix it all together to make their "paint."

(I am super mad...I took pictures of all the steps, but something went wrong with my memory card so those pictures are gone now:( I am sure you can follow it without pictures though!!

We made 3 different colors: red, purple and teal. Kaitlyn loved helping make the paint!! Then we went outside and let the kids color all over the front yard! My little Logan who is 15 months even colored! I got a picture of him but that was one of the pictures I lost:(

She absolutely loved being able to color the snow! Like I said above my 15 month old enjoyed it as well. We will be doing this again for sure...that is when we get more snow!!!

The Second thing I have for you is No Mess Painting. I actually saw this on Pinterest and knew that Kaitlyn would love it so we just had to try it out!!

What you will need:

-Ziploc bag

-Paints

-Masking tape

All you need to do is put a few drops of paint in the Ziploc bag. You can put a few different colors in the same bag. Then seal it tight and tape it to the counter.

Then let the kids paint and there is NO MESS!!

She is working on spreading the paint around and mixing them together.

We found a chopstick for her to use to help her make designs in the paint. Don't worry...I only let her use the rounded end!

She definitely loved doing this activity. I know we will be doing this again very soon!!

{P.S. I love you} Canvas Love Note Board

I decided a few weeks ago when I was at Walmart that it would be fun to try doing a craft with canvas. I have never worked with it before so I wanted to give it a try. I found many different sizes of canvases, but decided on the smallest they had which is an 8"x10". I came up with making a board that my hubby and I could leave little loves notes on for each other.

Of course when I bought it, the canvas was white. Totally BORING!!

I had to give it life with some color. Since its going in my bedroom I decided on yellow. I am accenting in that color. I bought Krylon Bright Idea yellow and spray painted it. It did 3 coats. It was so easy to paint. It dried really quick! (I am liking this canvas thing already!)

I love the shade of yellow!

Next, I got on my cricut and cut out the words, "p,s, i love you" in brown vinyl. I used the font His Name is Honey (the name goes perfect with the love note board and I didn't do it for that reason. I just loved how it looked in this font!) found HERE. I then put it on the bottom of the canvas. It was a little hard to get it to stick because the canvas is fabric and now had a slippery coat of paint on it. I got it to go on though after some hard work!

Next, I made some felt and fabric flowers to put on it. The tutorials for making them can be found HERE. I then hot glued them to the canvas.

In my stocking this past year I got some medium clothespins. I hot glued one of those on to hold our love notes on the canvas.

{My hubby works graveyards and I finished this up just as he was heading out the door to work}

Here is the full picture of it:

I love how it turned out!! My hubby loved it too. Now, I just hope I am not the only one that is going to use it:)

{Making Memories} Photo Blocks

A few months ago I was with my mother-in-law doing some crafts with a bunch of ladies. She did something similar to this and ever since then I have wanted to make my own. They are cute blocks with family pictures on them.

They are so easy to make!
Here is what you need:

-2"x2" or 3"x3" blocks (I did mine 3"x3" so I would have more space for pictures)

-A bunch of family pictures

-11" x5"x1 1/2" Wood Board

-A brush

-Mod Podge

-Sand paper

-Vinyl lettering

How to make them:

First off, I stained all my wood. I wanted it a dark color so I used Dark Walnut. Depending on how many people are in your family is going to depend on how many blocks you will want. I decided to think ahead and did 6, but I only used 5. That way I am ready to add when the next one comes along...and NO I am not announcing anything:)

When that dried I cut down my pictures to fit my blocks. I put a picture on each side of the block.

Next, I mod podged the pictures to the block. I didn't put a coat on top yet, I just glued them to the block. I waited for about 15 minutes for that to dry.

Then I took sand paper and sanded the edges of the pictures. It roughens them up and scratches them a little bit so they look old! It looks so cute.

Here you can see just one side done on this picture. I think it just finishes it off!

After I got each picture on the block sanded, I had to put a little mod podge on the back of some pictures again. With sanding them, some of them came loose on the corners and edges. Then I put a thin coat of the mod podge over the top of the pictures.

Next, I cut out the words, "Making Memories" in tan vinyl on my cricut. I used the font Pea Sarah found HERE. I put that on the thin side of the wood board.

Next, I put a coat of polycrylic over the whole board. This protects and shines it up. It is similar to mod podge. It goes on white, but dries clear. You can put mod podge over the whole thing if you prefer.

When that dries, stack your blocks on the board!! If you want to, you could tie a ribbon around the whole thing to give a finishing touch.

The fun part is, now your can turn the blocks to have different pictures showing in the front! You will never be bored of having the same pictures out!!
I just love having some fun family pictures up. We truly are Making Memories with these blocks!!!

Homemade Flower Box

I hope you had a fun filled weekend. I had an awesome weekend. I became an Aunt again for the 16th time!!! My sister that I told you about in this POST had her baby boy!! He is so Precious! I am so happy for my sister and brother in law! I love them so much!

Now onto today's craft....

My sweet hubby gave me a late birthday present a few weeks ago. He got me my very own mini power drill!!! I have never really used one in my life let alone built anything using one. I definitely needed some coaching from him on how to use it. He went and grabbed some scrap wood in the garage and told me that I was going to build a box. I thought he was crazy, but it seemed easy enough and I really needed to learn what to do. It might seem simple to use one, but there really is a trick to using it!! Here are a couple of pictures of that night:

My husband was just going to put this back in the garage once I got enough practice putting screws in, but I just couldn't let that happen. This was the first thing I had made using my new power tool and I wanted to display it proudly!!!! So I got thinking and decided it would be the perfect flower box!

Since it was scrap wood I really needed to paint it all one color so I got the spray paint out and got painting. I painted the whole thing white so it would match!!

I didn't want to leave it stark white. I wanted it to look old and warn. Kind of vintage looking! So I sanded down the edges and stained the whole thing Early American color.

When the stained dried I put styrofoam inside and added cream flowers with some leaves.

It's home is on my parents living room table:

I am so glad I decided I needed to display my hard work of building the box!!! I LOVE the way it turned out!! Perfect!!!

This is the best tip in the world. Mascara usually dries up when there is about half the bottle left. Just put 4 to 5 drops of Saline Solution in it, put the wand in and stir. Now you have moist mascara again and you can now finish the bottle!!! I am so happy now!

I am sorry this is hard to see, but it is so cool. They took a painting and put the saying "I was Lucky Like a Four Leaf Clover" on it with vinyl lettering. Then they painted the whole thing white. Braids to Waves

A few years back we had a family party and my nieces came over with their hair all wavy. It was so pretty! They told us that they did it with braids!! I was totally shocked because I had never thought of doing something like this. Ever since then I have been wanting to try it on my little Kaitlyn.

Two weeks ago I gave my kids a bath right before bed one night. I thought this would be the perfect time to try it. After she got out, of course her hair was wet.

I took many different sections of hair and put them in braids.

I had her sleep with her hair like this. The next morning we took all the braids out and combed it just a LITTLE bit to get it under control and put a head band in. Here is what they look like after they have set:

It is so pretty!! She loved it!

Here is a tip when doing the braids:

The smaller the section of hair the tighter the curl will be,

the bigger the section the looser it will be!!

I am actually really sad about this now because we won't be able to do this again for awhile. The same day we took out the braids is the same day I went and got her hair cut. I had the lady chop it off. It is a super cute short a line style now!! I love it. No more long hair for us for awhile!

School Valentine's Treats

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I sure did!! On Friday evening my cute hubby said he was going to run some errands and for me not to eat dinner. A few hours later he came home with a stake dinner from Applebee's, a couple of new movies (Real Steel and Kunfu Panda 2), 3D glasses for our new 3D TV we just bought, popcorn and a HUGE box of chocolates for me!! He told me that we were celebrating Valentine's that night. I knew that we were going to be able to celebrate on Valentine's because he has school and works graveyards and has to work that night. He totally surprised me!!! He is the BEST husband in the world. I love you honey!!

Here a couple of pictures from that night.

I decided to take a picture of dinner when we were almost done! There was stake with mushroom and onions, loaded mashed potatoes and streamed vegetables.

Here is the box of chocolates!! I decided to measure the box. It was 20"x19 1/2". Definitely HUGE!!!

Enough about my weekend. Let's get to todays School Valentine's Treats....

If you are in need of a last minute treat for your kids to take for Valentine's Parties at school tomorrow I have a cute one for you. I have been looking for the past few weeks on Pinterest for some cute ideas to do for my little Kaitlyn's preschool class. I finally decided on one that uses starbursts.

All you need is:

-Bags of starbursts (I needed 2 bags. She has 11 classmates and her teacher.)

-Jewelry size baggies

-Stapler

-Labels

I put 12 starbursts into each baggie.

Next I made my own label with the saying,"I'm Bursting with Happiness that you are my Friend." Then I stapled them to the top of each baggie.

We also did one for her teacher and put, "I am Bursting with Happiness that you are my Teacher."

Super easy right?!? But they turned out so cute!! Kaitlyn is so excited to take them to school tomorrow! If you would like the label that I made, please feel free to email me at 2yellowbirdsdecor@gmail.com and I can send it to you!

I love this idea for organizing earrings. It is a decorative radiator grate. Mine are all sitting in a drawer right now. Caramel Banana Muffins

My family and I recently threw a baby shower for my sister who is having her baby next week . We did a brunch for all who came. I was in charge of bringing some muffins. I wanted to bring something really fun and yummy. I went on pinterest to see what I could find and came across this Caramel Banana Muffin recipe. I knew that I had to make this. They just sounded delicious!!!

Don't they look AMAZING?!?

Here is the Recipe:

Caramel Banana Muffins:

1/2 cup chopped pecans

2 Tbs. sugar

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 3 oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup butter, softened

2/3 cup sugar

1 egg

1 medium banana, peeled and mashed (1/2 cup)

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

2 Tbs. caramel-flavored ice cream topping

1 medium banana. peeled and thinly sliced (optional)

1 Tbs. butter, melted

Caramel-flavored ice cream topping (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

1. Line twelve 2-1/2-inch muffin cups or 6 jumbo (3-1/4-inch) muffin cups with paper bake cups. In a small bowl, mix pecans, 2 Tbs. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon.

2. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, softened butter and 2/3 cup sugar with an electric mixer until well combined. Add egg and beat well. Beat in mashed banana and vanilla until combined.

3. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add to the banana mixture, beating on low speed until just combined.

4. Stir in 1/4 cup of the pecan mixture. Spoon half the batter into prepared muffin cups (1rounded Tbs. for each 2-1/2-inch muffin cup or 2 rounded Tbs. for each jumbo muffin cup). Drizzle 1/2 tsp. caramel topping over batter in each cup. Top with remaining batter. If you like, top each muffin with 2 thin slices additional banana, Drizzle each with a little melted butter and sprinkle with remaining pecan mixture.

**I chose not to add the slices of banana on the top. It think it would have been really yummy. I thought it lacked the banana taste a little bit, but they were still REALLY good!!

5. Bake at 375 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool pan for 5 minutes. Remove from pan, Serve warm drizzled with more caramel topping, if you like. Makes 12 standard or 6 jumbo muffins.

**With the caramel that I put on the top it made it so the muffins stuck in the pan. I had to use knife to get them out of the pan.

They were seriously So YUMMY!!! They were very moist and had really good flavor. Like I said above I did think they were lacking the banana flavor just a bit. Next time I will try putting the slices of banana on top and maybe even add more mashed banana to the mixture.

DELICIOUS!!!

Baby Initials {Nursery Decor}

My amazing oldest sister just turned 40 in December. She has been married for 12 years. They have been trying to get pregnant ever since. They have had no such luck. Long story short....after many many years they finally were able to get pregnant all on their own!!!!! It is such an exciting thing happening in our family. She is actually having her little boy in 2 weeks! I can't wait to meet him. A couple of weeks ago all my sisters, mom and I threw her a baby shower. I wanted to make something for her to put up at the shower for decoration and also that she could take home with her to put in his nursery.

I finally came up with the idea of getting his initials in paper machete letters and then making a sign to put next to them. I went to Hobby Lobby to get the letters.

She is doing his room in Jungle Theme so I found some paper that went with that. I then traced the letters on each paper and cut that out.

Next, I mod podged the paper to the letters.

While that was drying I made a sign that I put next to the letters. I saw this saying last fall and knew it was PERFECT for my sister with this baby coming. The saying is "Such a tiny baby for such a big miracle." I found a block of wood and painted it lime green.

After that dried I stained the whole thing. I used the color red mahogany. I love this color. There really isn't a lot of red in it. It just goes really dark brown.

Next, I cut out the saying on my cricut using brown vinyl and put that on the block. I put a coat of mod podge over it so the letters don't come off...especially since its going in a baby's room!

I found some cute brown polka dotted bottle caps at Hobby Lobby. I fell in love with them. I stuck one to each letter. On one of the letters I added lime green leaves behind it.

Blogger Friends...Meet Michala!!

I am so excited to be doing my very first guest post! Thank you so much Jill, my "fairy blog-mother", for having me! I am brand new to the blogging world (from the eyes of an author- I have been admiring other blogs for quite some time now). Jill has patiently answered my questions and has helped me navigate through some of my first big milestones of setting up my own blog. And if that wasn't enough, she is now letting me guest post! She is pretty much... amazing!!!

I teach kindergarten part-time and absolutely LOVE it! I had always taught fifth grade, but I just had my baby girl last May, so I feel lucky that I get to stay home most days with her now. Even though I love my job, I love being a mama so much more.

Enough about me...

I thought I would share a super easy, frugal way to show your sweetheart how much you love them on Valentine's Day without spending money! Give them... a heart attack! I did this for my hubby last year and he got a kick out of it.

To get started, all you need is:

Paper (I like to use colored or patterned)
Scissors
Pen
Embellishments (Optional- I used flowers and brads for mine)

First, simply cut out your hearts and on each one write a personal note. I started every note with, "I love you because..." and then I gave a specific reason or thing that my hubs does that I love and/or appreciate about him.

I know this sounds silly, it may be the teacher in me, but I don't like to give generic feedback. Telling someone "I love you because you are funny" is nice, but telling them why or how they are funny will really make their day. It tells them that you really notice and love them for exactly who they are. If I tell a student, "I really appreciate how you come in quietly and get started on your morning work without talking!" They will do that for me every day. Specific, positive feedback can mean the world to someone.

Now you can add any embellishments, if you choose. I decided to make mine even "manlier" by adding flowers to my hearts :)

My husband makes me laugh so hard my belly hurts! He will ask me, "Did I give you a belly laugh?"

Now you can hang them up... anywhere your hubby will see them! One year I covered the cab of his truck in them. Another year I hid each heart in a different place, so as Valentine's Day went on, he would slowly find them.

This picture shows them all over his closet door. What better way to start your day than being reminded of all the things you do that your spouse loves?

Valentine's Ribbon Wreath

A few weeks ago I was on Pinterest and saw the cutest ribbon wreath that someone had made for her door at work. My original thought was to make one for the spring, but I changed my mind. I decided it would be cuter to make one for Valentine's!! I am so happy I changed my mind.

What you will need to make it:

-Styrofoam wreath: any size you desire

-Different sizes and styles of ribbon. However many you would like to put on depends on how many rolls you will need.

OPTIONAL:

-felt or fabric

-hot glue gun

How you will make it:

If you decided to using the felt/fabric you will follow these steps first.

Since some of my ribbons were see through I thought it would be best to cover the wreath in felt first. I cut out 3 strips of white felt and hot glued it onto the wreath. This way the yucky green color wouldn't show through the see through ribbons.

When I got that all done I got my widest ribbon out first and measure how long I wanted it to be. I chose 19". (Later on I had to cut down some of the ribbons, but I did this length for all of them to begin with.)

I cut 4 strips of my wide one and put those on the wreath first making a "t" on it. This way you make sure those are all even and then you just have to work with little quarter sections. Much easier for me anyway!!

Then I filled in the rest with my other ribbons!! When I got them all one I went around and cut some of them down to make it even all the way around the wreath.

Lastly, I cut a strip of black ribbon and hot glued it to the back of the wreath so I can hang it up.

Heres what it look like all done...

I absolutely LOVE it!!! So fun for Valentine's!

Dollar Store Valentine's Frames

Since discovering that the Dollar Store is getting more and more items in there than long ago, I have found a new love to look there for crafts. I can't believe all that they have and so much cheaper then the craft stores. I thought it would be cute to get some small frames and make a Valentine's Decor. The best part is...I can use this for other holidays too!! I have thought about putting "LUCK" in them for next month!!

These frames were pretty cute! I was very impressed with my find!!

How I Made Them:

All I did was cut down some cute Valentine's scrapbook paper to fit the frames and then in black vinyl I cut out X O X O with my cricut and stuck them onto the paper. Lastly, I put the paper back in the frame. Super easy and CHEAP!!!

Happy Friday All!!!

I hope you all had a wonderful and productive week. I totally did!! I was able to get quite a few projects done. I love weeks like this! I wish they could happen more often:)

Before I start on this weeks Pinning it on Pinterest, I just had to share some fabulous news with all of you!!! We had a big milestone at Two Yellow Birds Decor yesterday. We not only hit 100 followers, but we are now at 105!!! WOOT WOOT!!! I have been waiting for this day for a while now and its finally come! Yay! Thanks to everyone who is following the support you are giving me!

I was just thinking the other day that I need to make my kids fleece blankets. This is so cute to add a fun edge to the blanket instead of just leaving it cut in strips or tying knots. It looks really easy too! I am going to try this out when I get the fabric for their blankets.

Be Mine Blocks

This was actually a project from last year that my Mom, sisters and I all did together. I started my blog in July so I haven't posted this yet so I thought I would put them up this year!! I absolutely love how they turned out and was so excited to put them up again this year!

Drab to Shab..Valentine's Decor Frame

I can't believe that we are less than a month away from Valentine's!! I used to hate this holiday when I was younger and single, but now that I am married and have kids I absolutely love it! I like to do a bunch of little things to show my family how much I love them!! I can't wait!

Since we are getting closer to it I thought it would be good start getting Valentine crafts done. Today I have a cute Valentine's frame to show you.

A few months ago I was at Michael's and they had a bunch of frames on clearance! I just had to get a few. I have had this frame sitting in my craft room since then just waiting for the perfect project to come along. It finally did!! Here is the frame before....

It is all scratched up...definitely clearance material!

To start out, I spray painted it red. Of course it had to be a Valentine's color!

I used the Rust-Oleum Safety Red. I did 4 coats of paint on it.

Next, I sprayed laquer on it. I wanted it to have a pretty shine finish.

Then came the fun part...getting to decorate it!!! I started by putting a cream colored glittery piece of paper in the frame. Then I made a banner for it. I cut out triangles on my cricut using scrapbook paper and cut a piece of ribbon to glue them to.

I used the hot glue gun to glue them on.

Next, I took some decorative wavy red ribbon and glued it to the top of the paper and white ribbon. (I know there is a name for it, but I can't remember. I bought this forever ago and had this left over from another project.)

Then I cut out the word LOVE in black vinyl using the font Oh {Photo} Shoot! found HERE and put each letter on a different triangle.

I then cut the ribbon the length that I wanted it for the frame. I burned the edges so it wouldn't fray. Then I hot glued it to the frame.

Next, I cut out a heart in red vinyl. I also cut out the words "Is All You Need" in black vinyl in the font Pea Sarah found HERE. Then I stuck both of those to the glass.

Lastly, I made 5 Super cute paper flowers to put on it. The tutorial for how to make them can be found HERE. I did not put the paper circle in the middle on these ones. I hot glued buttons on them instead!!

And Now....Here is the full complete picture of it!!!

I am so excited to put this up for Valentine's! I just love how it turned out!!!

Rolo Cookies

These cookies are so YUMMY and the best part is they are so EASY to make!!! So I just had to share this recipe with all of you!

I just made them this past week for a baby blessing that was on Sunday. Most of the people there were very surprised to find the rolo in the middle. They had no idea they were going to bite into the yummy goodness:)

Here's what you will need to make them:

-1 Devil's Food Cake Mix

-1/2 cup Oil

-2 eggs

-1 bag of Rolo's

How to make them:

The fun part of this is having to unwrap all the rolo's!! OK not really, but the cookies are so worth it:) I do this first so I have it done and out of the way. Every time I have made this I have a few left over, but I still unwrap them all.

(Sorry, there is powered sugar on some of them!)

Pour the cake mix in a bowl. Add oil and eggs and mix together.

Next, you will cover the rolos with the dough. You don't need very much. Just enough to cover the rolo completely.

This next step is totally OPTIONAL! I actually have never done this before with these cookies, but since I was making this batch for the baby blessing I thought it would be fun to have a touch of white in with the cookie. So I then rolled them in powdered sugar.

Then you put them on a cookie sheet.

I pictured both in this picture to show you that you don't have to do the powered sugar if you don't want to!!

Then you will bake them at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.

When you pull them out of the oven let them cool for a couple of minutes and then move them to a cooling rack or if you don't have that tin foil will do!

I do think they turned out pretty with the powdered sugar!

Lastly.....EAT AND ENJOY!!!!!

This recipe makes just over 3 dozen cookies.

{Let it Snow} Sign

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! I had an awesome weekend! You will read more about it below.

With this month being January and the weather here in Utah is normally snow, I wanted to make a cute 'Let it Snow' sign. I was getting worried because there really hasn't been much snow this whole fall/winter. Especially with last week felling much like SPRING. But we finally got a bunch of snow on Saturday! YAY!! I like to think that Mother Nature looked at my sign and took it to heart!! HAHA!
I just had to take my kids out and let them play in it. They both got snow gear for Christmas and my 3 year old has been dying to get out and play. They had so much fun!!

As you can see Kaitlyn is so excited about this snow, but little Logan was not happy!! He was definitely unsure when we first went outside, but as he watched Kaitlyn run all over the place he started to think may be it was fun. He warmed up after that and loved running after his sister!

I just loved how this picture turned out!! I am working on my photography skills with my new camera.

Well enough about my weekend. Let's look at the sign, shall we?!?

Here is what it looks like:

Here is how I made it:

I got a piece of wood that is 6"x24". I painted the top of it with Robins Egg Blue made by craft smart. I did 2 coats on it.

Normally I stain my wood crafts at this point when the paint dries, but I wanted to make this one totally different. So I left it the plain, light colored wood.

When the paint dried I added some decorative paper. When I went to the craft store I was trying to find something in the blue color that I painted the board with that looked "wintery." But I had no such luck. I then started looking at what else I could do and I came across this lace paper...

I fell in love the second I found it!! I knew that it would go Perfect with my project! I love it when that happens:) And it was on Clearance!! Woot Woot!

I cut it down to fit the board. I used 1 full sheet, just cut in half and then only about 1/4 of the other sheet.

I then mod podged it onto the wood.

I did not put a coat on the top of the paper at this point. I just needed to glue it down so I could put the vinyl lettering on top of it. I found that this was the easiest way to do that. I just love how this paper makes it look like the whole board is snowing!

Then I cut out the words 'Let It Snow' in the font, Oh {Photo} Shoot! found HERE in sliver vinyl and applied it to the right side of the board.

Then I applied a thin layer of mod podge over the top of the paper and vinyl.

Lastly, I hot glued some cute snow flakes to the left side of the sign. I found these all at Walmart. I love the blue ones!!

Now I have a super cute and fun sign for the winter months!!

Talk about Cuteness...put lined paper in a frame, dress it up and then use dry erase markers to leave notes for your hubby or loved ones!! I am SO doing this!! Love the idea!

New Years Resolution=Blog Change

Since it's the start of a new year and many of us make new years resolutions I decided to make some for my blog!! I did many for my personal life and since my love for blogging is in that life I decided to make some changes for it. I changed it a few months ago, but with just starting this crafting blog I am still in the beginning stages and trying to find things that I love and work for me. I am so excited about this new change!! I absolutely love the new look! What do you all think?? I would love your feedback!
