Spring Wreath

With it now being the end of March and officially Spring, I have decided it is time to start getting the Spring decor done. I was in the mood to make a super fun wreath with bright spring colors.

I went to Michael's and got grapevine wreath. It cost me $4.99. I totally thought it was going to be more when going, but I was surprised at how inexpensive they were! I also got a can of spray paint to make it bright for spring. I got the color Blue Ocean Breeze. After a few coats of paint (I used the whole can- I just wanted to make sure it was bright and that I got most everything that you can see since there are wholes all in the wreath) here is the transformation.

This past December I went to Joann's to get some things to put on my Christmas wreath. I found a bunch of sparkly flowers and leaves and all cute little nic nacs on clearance! They had a few things that were bright colors that reminded me of spring so I bought a few flowers and leaves to use on a spring craft. Well this was the perfect one for them! So I added those on:

Next, I made a spring banner to put on it:
I cut out 6 triangles with scrapbook paper.

Then I cut out the word "SPRING" in white vinyl on my cricut. I used the font Lima Bean found HERE. I put each letter on a triangle.

Next, I glued the triangles to some white ribbon using a hot glue gun.

Then I glued that to the wreath using the hot glue gun. I also added a ribbon around the top of the wreath so I could hang it up.

Here is what it looks like all done:

I just love how it turned out!! It is so fun and bright for spring!
(Because I took it out in the sunlight it is really hard to see the letters on the lime green paper. It really is not hard to see them in person!)

Valentine's Ribbon Wreath

A few weeks ago I was on Pinterest and saw the cutest ribbon wreath that someone had made for her door at work. My original thought was to make one for the spring, but I changed my mind. I decided it would be cuter to make one for Valentine's!! I am so happy I changed my mind.

What you will need to make it:

-Styrofoam wreath: any size you desire
-Different sizes and styles of ribbon. However many you would like to put on depends on how many rolls you will need.
OPTIONAL:
-felt or fabric
-hot glue gun

How you will make it:

If you decided to using the felt/fabric you will follow these steps first.

Since some of my ribbons were see through I thought it would be best to cover the wreath in felt first. I cut out 3 strips of white felt and hot glued it onto the wreath. This way the yucky green color wouldn't show through the see through ribbons.

When I got that all done I got my widest ribbon out first and measure how long I wanted it to be. I chose 19". (Later on I had to cut down some of the ribbons, but I did this length for all of them to begin with.)

I cut 4 strips of my wide one and put those on the wreath first making a "t" on it. This way you make sure those are all even and then you just have to work with little quarter sections. Much easier for me anyway!!

Then I filled in the rest with my other ribbons!! When I got them all one I went around and cut some of them down to make it even all the way around the wreath.

Lastly, I cut a strip of black ribbon and hot glued it to the back of the wreath so I can hang it up.

Heres what it look like all done...

I absolutely LOVE it!!! So fun for Valentine's!

Crayon Wreath Tutorial {Teacher's Gift}

My cute little Kaitlyn is in preschool right now and wanted to give her teacher something for Christmas. I thought it would be super cute and fun to make her teacher a Crayon Wreath. I wanted to show you all how to make it. It is so colorful and bright!

What You Will Need To Make It:
-A 12" Embroidery Hoop
-A 8" Embroidery Hoop
-64 Crayons
-Ribbon
-Hot Glue Gun
-A Few Glue Sticks

How To Make It:

Put the 8" embroidery hoop inside the 12" one. Make sure the spacing is the same all the way around. I thought I would be super awesome and just free hand putting the crayons all the way around. I was COMPLETELY wrong!!! The spacing was not right and they weren't staying straight. They were turning more then they should! I definitely found out the hard way. I had to pull off the few crayons that I had glued on and start over. I hate when stuff like this happens! Oh well! I then decided to go about it a different way.  I glued on 4 crayons making a "t" shape on the wreath. This way I could just do quarter sections and know I would get the spacing right. This was MUCH easier! It went together so fast after I did this. It was way easy to get the spacing just right.
I laid out the crayons one section at a time. I wanted to make sure I got the spacing right and then I hot glued them all on the wreath. I found the best way to line them up was to put the top black stripe on the crayon just over the 12" hoop. You can see that with the green crayon above. This way they were all in the same spot on the wreath.
When I got that all done I made a bow out of ribbon for it. I found some cute ABC 123 ribbon at Hobby Lobby.
I then hot glued that on to 2 crayons at the top of the wreath.

Next, I made a loop out of the same ribbon so it could be hung up. I put it through the 2 crayons that the bow was on, looping it around the embroidery hoop.
Then I tied the ends together.

I then pulled the knot down by the hoop so you could not see it.

After I got that done I burned the ends of the ribbon with a match so it wont fray.
Next, I got on my Cricut and cut out her teachers name and made them look like blocks. I also cut out a book, an apple and an award ribbon.
Lastly, I hot glued them to the wreath. That's it!!

Here is the Wreath all done...
She was so excited to give it to her teacher! She gave it to her on Thursday the 15th of December. Her teacher absolutely Loved it!! YAY!!! She said she had never seen anything like it before. I was so excited that she loved it!
