I have always loved the saying "Merry and Bright." I wanted to do some type of decor with it this year. I came up with making a fun sign.
To get started I got a wood board that is 29"x5". I painted it Apple Tart made by craft smart. I mixed a little bit of white paint with it because I didn't want it too bright green. I did 2 coats on it.
After the paint dried I sanded around the edges of the board. I wanted to clean it up and get it so I could see some wood around the paint.
Then I stained the hole board with Red Mahogany. I put it heavier in some places on the painted part to give it a rustic look. I really like this color. There is not a lot of red in it. It just looks like a dark brown.
Then I let the stain dry. It takes almost a full day because the weather is getting colder and affects the drying time. Weird, I know. I try to bring it inside after it has dried enough that it doesn't stink up the house.
After it dried, I nailed in 2 claw hooks on the back side so I can hang it up.
Next, I cut out Merry and Bright in white vinyl on my Cricut. I used the font Pea Snow found HERE. I lined it up on the right side of the board.
Then with the the of my Mom, we made a big sliver bow for it. We put some green tulle in it and some red curly ting that I found on clearance at Joanne's. We also made a cute berry greenery thing that I put next to the bow. Thanks for your help Mom!! I am not a master in bow making, but she is and now I know somethings too!
Here is the full sign all done...
I just love how it turned out!!! Now I just need to figure out exactly where I can hang it!
