Recently On Two Yellow Birds Decor

Flag Blocks

I know that the 4th of July is just a month away now so I thought it was time to get my crafts done that I wanted to make this year! The next few weeks I am going to be posting a lot of different decor to make for the home!

First up is a Flag made out of wood blocks! I thought it would be super fun to make a flag this way!

I looked through my hubby's scrap wood pile and found a few pieces that would work. He helped me get them cut down to size so it would make the perfect flag!

I pulled out my red, white and blue paints and got to work.

After the paint dried I sanded around the edges of the paint to clean them up.
Then I stained all the blocks with the color Early American.

While that was drying I painted a wood star white. I found a bag at the craft store with 8 of them in it. Perfect for all the crafts I am doing these next few weeks!

When that dried I stained it as well so it would match the white in the stripes that I had stained.

When that dried, I hot glued the star to the blue square.
Lastly, I stacked all the blocks together!!!

Here is what it looks like:

It is so fun all put together!! It was so easy to make too!

  7. I like the simplicity of the design and the fact that there are only 5 pieces of wood. It is something maybe even I could do :)

If you would like to share this or any other patriotic projects you have, I am hosting a patriotic link-up party here.
