Fall Mason Jar Decor

I have noticed lately that mason jars are coming in big time

for all sorts of different things.

I wanted to get on the bandwagon myself and make

some cute vases out of them for my fall mantel.

These were so beyond easy to make and I love the look they give!!

What I used are 3 different size mason jars.

My mom had these in her food storage room and let me take them!!

BIG JAR: I took small jute and wrapped it around many many times. I secured it with hot glue.

MEDIUM JAR: I took a strip of felt and hot glued it around the medium jar. I also wrapped the small jute around the middle of the felt a few times.

SMALL JAR: I took a strip of burlap and hot glued it around the jar.

Here are what they look like together:

I bought those stick things at the dollar store awhile ago and this was the perfect place to use them.

I love the way they turned out. They look so good with everything on my mantel.

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies

One of my most favorite treats of fall are

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookies.

There is nothing more that reminds me of Fall then a soft moist pumpkin cookie.

So today I have a tasty and healthy recipe for you all!

Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Cookie:

Ingredients:

-1 cup canned pumpkin

-1/2 cup white sugar

-1/4 cup brown sugar

-1 Tbs vegetable oil

-1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

-1 egg

-2 cups all purpose flour

-2 tsp baking powder

-2 tsp ground cinnamon

-1/2 tsp salt

-1 tsp baking soda

-1 tsp milk

-1 Tbs vanilla

-1 bag milk chocolate chips

Directions:

1. Combine the pumpkin, brown and white sugar, vegetable oil, applesauce and egg.

2. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon and salt.

3. Dissolve the baking soda in the milk. Then pour into the wet pumpkin mixture.

4. Pour the flour mixture into the pumpkin mixture and mix well. Add the vanilla and chocolate chips.

5. Drop spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. {The recipe I did said 10 minutes, but I found that 12 minutes was better.} You won't be able to tell that they are "browning," but they will become firm.

These really were so delicious!! Everyone in the family loved them...including my 22 month old!

Fall Board Decor {Tutorial}

Since fall is halfway over I decided it was time to get my board done that I have had in my craft ideas book forever!! Ok, I would have had it done awhile ago, but my awesome handy man hubby has been crazy with school this semester and has had no time to cut out my leaves for me. I can to straight cuts, but do not dare to even attempt what he did for me!

{HERE IS THE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE IT}

What You Will Need To Make It:

-Wood Board 31 1/2"x5 1/2" (I know the size is completely weird. I just used a scrap board my hubby had laying in his pile of wood. You can make it bigger or smaller then that)

-2 Big leaves

-2 Little leaves

-Light brown paint

-Sand Paper

-Any color stain you wish (I used Early American)

-Fall Colored Paper

-Mod Podge

-Hot glue gun

-Brown Vinyl Lettering

How To Make This Board Sign:

Once you have your board, make sure the edges are sanded how you want them to be. Then you are going to paint it. I did two coats on mine.

After it is completely dry you are just going to touch up the edges with sandpaper. I am not too neat when I paint. I like to have some of the wood showing around the paint, but usually get paint where I don't want it, but that's why we have sand paper, right?!? He can fix all of mistakes on wood!

When you get that how you want it you are going to stain the whole board, back and front. You will also stain your wood leaves too. Let them dry completely. It will take a couple of hours.

After they are dry you will work on the leaves. I found some cute fall leaves paper at the craft store. I bought some other paper that matched it. When I cut it all out and put it on the leaves I did not like it. BUMMER deal:( But my awesome Mom came to the rescue with some orange paper. It had a pattern almost like a leaf does. It was perfect!

Once you have your paper selected you are going to trace the leaf and then cut it out. I traced it on the back of the paper. If you choose to do this also make sure you flip the leaf otherwise the back of the paper will be the front of your leaf! When you cut it out you will cut a little below your line. This way you can have some wood showing around the paper.

After you get them all cut out you are going to mod podge the paper onto the leaf.

While the mod podge is drying you are going to work on your saying. I chose the saying "Fall...Fell" I thought it worked perfect with the leaves. I used the font Elise found here. I cut that out with my cricut using brown vinyl. I then centered and stuck it on the board.

Lastly, I hot glued the leaves into place. Here is the finished picture again...

Fabulous Fall Wreath

I don't know about all of you but I absolutely love this time of year. I love that the weather starts cooling down a little bit, the beautiful colors of the leaves changing, the yummy smells and the excitement of all the holidays coming up. I also love the fact that I don't feel so guilty staying inside to craft on a gloomy day! Because fall is in the air I had to make a fall wreath.

What you need:

-Styrofoam Wreath

-Fabric

-2 things of tulle (I only used 1 and a half)

-Felt, Fabric & Burlap for flowers

The Process:

I covered the wreath with brown felt so you couldn't see the green through the tulle.

Next, tie a strip of tulle in a single knot around the wreath. The size of the tulle will depend on how far you want it to stick out of the wreath. I tied one on to get the look I wanted and then cut of ton of strips that same size. Do this process around the whole wreath. I put mine really close together because I wanted it really full.
