Easy Painted {Patriotic Mason Jars}

These were so easy to make 
and are such a fun decor with 
these mason jars coming into home decor lately!

What You Will Need To Make Them:

-3 Mason Jars {I used 2 different sized. 1 big and 2 little}

-Red, White and Blue Craft Paint

-Cardboard or Tin Foil {not pictured}

How I Made Them:

If you remember the Easy Painted Vases {HERE}
 that I made a couple of months ago, these were done just like those.


All I did was put a bit of paint in the jar, turned it upside down and started turning it so the paint would go all over the jar, like this:

After you get the paint fully covered on the inside you will set them upside down to drip the access paint. This will take a couple of hours. Just keep checking and then moving it to a clean area so you can really monitor it.

Then when all the paint as seemed to drip off you will set them up right to fully dry. I set mine outside because it was a super hot day so I knew they would dry pretty fast.

When you fill they are fully dry, you can put the rings back on them and put a flower in if you would like! 

If you want to leave them without these, you will want to take sand paper to the tops of them to get rid of any paint that needs to be removed on the outside lip. 

That's it!!

So easy and they turn out gorgeous!!

Easy {Jute} Projects

I bought a roll a jute a couple of months ago and I really haven't used it since I got it. I have been working on making a little gallery wall for my bedroom and wanted different shapes to put in it. I had a little wood circle I bought for a project at the end of last year that didn't end up working out so it has just been sitting in my craft room since. When I saw this circle I knew I wanted to include it in the gallery wall. As I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with it this roll of jute caught my eye. I knew the perfect thing was to wrap this circle "wreath" with the jute! 

Since I am redoing a lot of the decor in our room as well I knew I wanted to make a new vase for some flowers that I took out of a pot we had in there before. To tie in the little jute wreath into our room, I knew what I had to do with this vase! 

These projects were so easy and went together so quickly. My kind of projects. HA! 

They look so Amazing though, don't they?!?

I am going to do a little tutorial on how 

I made both of these so you can make them as well!

How I Made Them:

First up will be the 

Mini Jute Wreath:

What you will need:

-Little Wood Circle Wreath...or big depending on what you want! Bought at Michael's

-Roll of Jute

-Black Satan Fabric or the desire color wanted

-Pearl Gems

-Scissors

-Candle or some type of fire that will let your hands be free

How To Make It:

To start you are going to get the end of the jute string and hot glue that to the wood circle wreath.

Then you are going to wrap it around the circle. I didn't want to cut a huge long string so I left it on the roll. It fit right through the middle to do that. I did mine clean and lined up, but you could do it more messy and wrap it on top of each other here and there, if that makes sense!

When I got that all wrapped, I cut it and hot glued the end onto the back.

Next comes the flower. 

First you will need to cut 3 different size circles-big to small. They do not have to be perfect! It think it looks cuter when they aren't actually!!

This fabric frays a lot so next you are going to run the edges next to the fire so they don't fray. When you are done going around the outsides of them you are going to put the whole circle over the fire. If you do this VERY QUICKLY it will bunch it up a little giving it some fun dimensions. WARNING...if you leave it on the fire too long you will get a hole in the material..we don't want that!!

Then I hot glued those together. You could stitch them together, but I didn't on this one since they are going on a wreath. I put my glue gun on a low setting so it didn't get too hot. 

When I got that done, I added 3 little pearls in the center of the flower. They had sticky backs on them so I just stuck them on. 

Then I hot glued the flower onto the wreath.

Next, I made a make shift ribbon out of the black satan material I used for the flower so it would match. I cut a strip of fabric and burned the edges just like the flower to prevent the fraying. Then I tied that onto the wreath. 

Here is how I tied it:

1. Fold the ribbon in half and lay the folded end over the wreath

2. Take the 2 loose ends and tuck them under the wreath and pull them up through the loop created       from the fold in the ribbon

3. Pull the 2 loose ends so it tightens up

4. I made a knot in the top of the ribbon and cut the ribbon to make a little holder to hang it up with.

That's it for this one!! I am so excited to hang it up with my gallery wall!

Now I am going to show you how to make the

Jute Vase:

{You probably won't believe what I made this out of!!}

What you will need:

-Yep, a Pringles Chip Can!

-Roll of Jute

-Hot Glue Gun

-Scissors

-Ribbon to embellish

-Flowers or Greenery to put inside

How I Made It:

First, I took the end piece of jute and hot glued it onto the rim of the Pringles can.

Then I wrapped and wrapped and wrapped the jute around the can!! 

I did it tight together so the can wouldn't show through. 

When I got to the bottom, I cut the jute and hot glued it to the can.

Next, I created a little ribbon out of the satan fabric I did above. I cut a strip and then burned the edges so it wouldn't fray.

Then I tied that in a bow around the middle/bottom of the can.

Lastly...add some flowers or greenery for some fun flare!

EEEK!!! They turned out so much cuter then I thought!

Easy Painted Vases

As you know, recently my hubby and I made a new bed frame for us. 

You can see that HERE if you missed it. 

Now that we have a fun new bed, I wanted to make some

 new bedroom decor just to freshen things up a bit!

I have seen in so many bedroom makeovers that have vases that are on shelves with nothing in them, just the vase. I have always thought this looked so cute and wanted to make some for the room. 

I had 3 glass vases in my craft room wanting to be used. They were the perfect hight together in the group so I knew I wanted to use all 3. I got 2 of them at the dollar store awhile back and 1 of them my sister was going to give to a local thrift store when she was moving so of course I grabbed it to do something with! {Its the tallest one of the bunch and my favorite of the 3!!}

I didn't really want to leave them plain glass.
I wanted to paint them to brighten things up a bit.

I thought about spray painting them, but didn't have the colors I was looking for so I looked in my craft paint stash and had the perfect color combo to paint them with.  

Since we are freshening things up in our room, I wanted to change the accent colors I am using. 

Now, we are going to use a soft blue, yellow and cream. 

{I actually ended up using a different yellow paint then pictured. It was the Buttercream Yellow by craft smart. I forgot to take a picture of the new color. Sorry!}

I knew I could paint the outsides of them with the craft paint, but it would take a lot of coats to get them covered and it would be messy. 

 So I came up with another idea instead:
WHAT ABOUT PAINTING THE INSDIE?!?


This seriously was the most easy and quick thing I have ever done
 and they turned out so cute!!



Here is what I did:

Step 1:
Get Vases, Paint, and a piece of cardboard or something you know you are ok throwing away.


Step 2:
Squeeze a bunch of paint inside the vase and start turning it around upside down so the paint starts covering all the vase. You can add more paint if needed. You don't want to add too much because you don't want to end up wasting a lot of your paint so I did a bunch at first and then added more as it got closer to the top and I could tell the paint wasn't moving anymore.

Step 3:
When they are fully covered, let them stand upside down so all the paint can drip off onto the cardboard piece. It will take a little while for it to all drip down. After awhile I would move it to a dry spot so I could really monitor when it was done dripping down.

Step 4:
When you feel they are done dripping down, stand them upright to let them finish drying. This was was longest part of the whole thing. I had 2 vases that had skinny necks on them so the air couldn't get down to them very well. Those 2 took a couple of days to dry. The one with the bigger neck was done over night.

Step 5:
This last step is optional!
The top lips of the vases were not very pretty from all the paint dripping down. So I took sand paper and gently rubbed over the paint to clean it up a little bit. I had to do this very carefully so I didn't scratch the glass.

The biggest thing I loved about doing it this way, is the glass makes it look really glossy and its just a hint of color to the vases!!

I put them on our dresser and they look so cute!! 

Now to make some more decor for our room!!

ELF Kisses & Letters

Earlier this year when I went to Swiss Days, which you can read about HERE, 

we ran into my Aunts and cousins. One of my Aunts bought some

 cute Elf wood block letters. I honestly don't even remember what they look 

like but the whole idea of the Elf Letters have stuck in my head. 

I knew with my hubby's handy skills I could make some myself. 

So I did just that!!

Today I have a tutorial for you on how I made mine. 

Here is what they look like:

How to make them:

First off, my super amazing hubby cut out the wood letters for me. 

Don't mind the coloring on the blocks. 

My 2 year old found a marker and decided it would be super fun to color all over them!! Oh well, I didn't worry too much because I am covering them up!!

First, I painted the letters red with craft paint.

You can still see the fabulous artwork from my baby, but that's ok because here is the cute scrapbook paper I used to cover that up!!

I traced each letter onto a piece of the scrapbook paper. I cut that out to fit the size of the letter exactly. Then I used mod podge to get the paper onto the wood.

When those dried, I sprayed glitter spray over them to give them a little Elf Sparkle!! I did 2 coats of that on them.

When that fully dried, I put ribbons around each letter and then cut some white felt for the "L" to help make it look like an actual Elf Shoe.

Now for the Elf Kisses. 

I bought a vase at the dollar store awhile back just waiting for the right project. This was it!! I also bought 2 bags of Hershey Kisses.

I got on my photoshop and created a cute label that says "Elf Kisses". I have made that available to you to download for FREE! Go HERE to do that! 

I cut it down how I wanted it and laminated it so it would be protected on the jar.

I got out some red glitter ribbon to put around the jar.

I cut that down to size and then hot glued everything to the vase.

It's simple, but cute. I didn't wanted the main attention to be on the letters since this is going next to them!
