Easter Frame Wreath

I have seen all over Pinterest and Blogland some cute wreaths people have made out of frames. I have loved these. What about you??

I have wanted to make one for me and decided while I have been working on my Easter stuff I would just make one for Easter. I LOVE the way it turned out!!

Here is what it looks like:

How I Made It:

First, I found a frame in my craft room that I had found at a local thrift store awhile back.

As you can see there is a back on this frame. It was one that was connected to the frame so I had to get that off. I took a box cutter and cut it out since I wasn't going to be needing it anyway.

I wanted to paint it a bright spring color, so I chose yellow! I got out my spray paint and got to work. I put about 6 coats of paint on. I wanted it nice and bright.

It's a little hard to see in the picture, but there are some flaws with my spray painting job. Mostly in the corners of the frame. I wasn't happy with how it was looking. I decided to let it fully dry and then try staining it a bit.

I was amazed at how well the stain hid the mess ups in the painting job! I just took regular stain and rubbed it all over. I did one side at a time so I could wipe off what I didn't want before it dried. Lastly I rubbed the stained rag over the decorative edges of the frame, inner and outer. to make them pop a little.
It looks so much better!! Its amazing what a little stain can do to a project!

I let that dry over night so it wouldn't be sticky at all.

Next, comes the fun part...getting to embellish the frame! I bought some super cute sequined Easter eggs for a really good deal at Big Lots. I knew I wanted to hang these on the frame and I knew I wanted to put a big bow around it to be able to hang it up.

So first, I took some fabric I had leftover from some winter projects and cut two thick strips of fabric out. I took 1 strip and looped it around the frame and tied it in a knot:

Next, I took 3 of the Easter eggs and tied a piece of jute to them. I did different lengths to they would hang at different levels.

Then put lots of hot glue on the jute and attached them to the piece of fabric I had wrapped around the frame.

When the glue dried, I trimmed down the jute so it wasn't so long on top.

Lastly, I made a bow out of the same fabric I did on the loop going around. I hot glued that to the knot in the fabric.

Now we're all done!! Here is what it looks like again:

I just love the contrast of colors with the eggs and frame!
Goes perfect for Easter!!
