Little Boy Ties

This past Christmas "Santa" got me a sewing machine.
I was so excited about this. I haven't sewn really since high school.
I took classes and loved it, but I have never had my own so it was such a nice surprise.

I have wanted to start with smaller projects to slowly work my way sewing again.
I saw some cute toddler ties on Pinterest and
they seemed pretty easy to make so I decided to give it a try.

Let me tell you...these were SO EASY to make and whipped up really quick! I made two of them in one night...having to take breaks because of my kiddos.

This was really my first simple big project with my new machine.

Here are the toddler ties:

Aren't they SO CUTE?!?!
I love the way they turned out!

To make the ties, I used the
Tutorial Found HERE at Sharing the Wealth.

I did everything she did but a couple of things:

1. I used the same fabric for the backing. I didn't have white fabric
and really didn't want to go buy any.

2. When I used the tie pattern I did add a few inches to mine because my little 2 year old is super tall. This helped a lot!!

3. I used velcro to close mine together. I sewed a line through both sides of velcro so it wouldn't come off when pulling on it. {It was adhesive velcro}

*************

I was really excited to make these because my little guy who is 2 has never worn a tie.
I really wanted him to be able to start wearing them on Sunday's to church.
He was hesitant when I put them on him to try them out but
I bribed him with some M&M's to be a cute model for them!!

Here is our Cute Little Model:

I have to explain this picture- His new way of smiling is closing his eyes when I ask him to smile so he is trying to do that while eating his M&M's I bribed him with!! HAHA!!

He has worn these a couple of times now and didn't have any problems with them! He has grown to like them I think!

  4. This is on my "to do" list for my 4 y/o. Only problem is, he hates wearing ties! I'm hoping to bribe him, I 'convince' him that they are super cool! (M&M's may work, one of his favorite things!) I've seen (on Pinterest) that you can make boys ties from men's...off to check out the tutorial!
