Thanksgiving Blocks

This Thanksgiving season I am trying to add a bunch more decorations to put up in the house. I realized that I didn't really have much so I am trying to fix this. I really love Thanksgiving and I not one that likes to go from Halloween to Christmas.

I was looking through Pinterest one day at Thanksgiving decor that others have done. I saw some really cute wood blocks and had to make some for myself.
Aren't they so cute?!?

Here is how I did mine:
What you need:
 -3 blocks of wood.
 One 9"x2.5"
One 7"x2.5"
One 5"x2.5"
-Paint- Brown, Orange, Yellow
-Stain
-Tan and Brown Vinyl

First, I painted each block a different color. I only put paint on the top of the block.
I put 2 coats of paint on each of them.

When the paint dried, I sanded around the edges to clean the blocks up.
Then I stained all the blocks with the color Early American.

While those dried I cut out the words on my cricut.

I then put those on the blocks and added some brown tulle and burlap to the top.
Here is what mine look like all done:

I LOVE the way they turned out and I Love Pinterest for a super cute idea!!

Fall Mason Jar Decor

I have noticed lately that mason jars are coming in big time
for all sorts of different things.
I wanted to get on the bandwagon myself and make
some cute vases out of them for my fall mantel.
These were so beyond easy to make and I love the look they give!!

What I used are 3 different size mason jars.
My mom had these in her food storage room and let me take them!!

BIG JAR: I took small jute and wrapped it around many many times. I secured it with hot glue.

MEDIUM JAR: I took a strip of felt and hot glued it around the medium jar. I also wrapped the small jute around the middle of the felt a few times.

SMALL JAR: I took a strip of burlap and hot glued it around the jar.

Here are what they look like together:
I bought those stick things at the dollar store awhile ago and this was the perfect place to use them.

I love the way they turned out. They look so good with everything on my mantel.
Here is what that all looks like!

EEK!! I love it!!!

Family Gratitude Journal

I don't know if anyone else feels this same way, but I feel like October flew by in a blink of an eye! I seriously can't believe that November starts this week which means Thanksgiving is not far away!

As we all know with Thanksgiving brings lots of thoughts of being Thankful! This upcoming month I want to do a Family Gratitude Journal. Where we all take a minute each day and write down a few things that we are thankful for. I really want to get my 4 year old daughter involved in this as well so she can see that there are many things in life that we sometimes take for granted that we need to be grateful for.

Here is what I did to make our Family Gratitude Journal:

A few weeks ago I bought a composition notebook at Walmart for .50 cents! It was on clearance after all the school items were out.

Of course, I had to decorate it and make it all cute! So I got some scrapbook paper and measured it from the black strip on the binding to the edge of the book. I cut it out and used a glue stick to glue it on to the book.

Then I took an exacto knife and cut the paper around the corners of the notebook since they are rounded. I used the back of my Cricut Mat to cut on.

Next I added some embellishments to the front of the notebook.
I made a Paper Pinwheel Flower that you can see HERE how to make. I also added gems to the center of the flower.
I typed up on the computer and printed out the Gratitude Journal sign.
I hot glued or used a glue stick to put everything on it.

I love how it turned out and can't wait to get started writing in our Family Journal!
