ELF Kisses & Letters

Earlier this year when I went to Swiss Days, which you can read about HERE, 

we ran into my Aunts and cousins. One of my Aunts bought some

 cute Elf wood block letters. I honestly don't even remember what they look 

like but the whole idea of the Elf Letters have stuck in my head. 

I knew with my hubby's handy skills I could make some myself. 

So I did just that!!

Today I have a tutorial for you on how I made mine.

How to make them:

First off, my super amazing hubby cut out the wood letters for me. 

Don't mind the coloring on the blocks. 

My 2 year old found a marker and decided it would be super fun to color all over them!! Oh well, I didn't worry too much because I am covering them up!!

First, I painted the letters red with craft paint.

You can still see the fabulous artwork from my baby, but that's ok because here is the cute scrapbook paper I used to cover that up!!

I traced each letter onto a piece of the scrapbook paper. I cut that out to fit the size of the letter exactly. Then I used mod podge to get the paper onto the wood.

When those dried, I sprayed glitter spray over them to give them a little Elf Sparkle!! I did 2 coats of that on them.

When that fully dried, I put ribbons around each letter and then cut some white felt for the "L" to help make it look like an actual Elf Shoe.

Now for the Elf Kisses. 

I bought a vase at the dollar store awhile back just waiting for the right project. This was it!! I also bought 2 bags of Hershey Kisses.

I got on my photoshop and created a cute label that says "Elf Kisses". I have made that available to you to download for FREE! Go HERE to do that! 

I cut it down how I wanted it and laminated it so it would be protected on the jar.

I got out some red glitter ribbon to put around the jar.

I cut that down to size and then hot glued everything to the vase.

It's simple, but cute. I didn't wanted the main attention to be on the letters since this is going next to them!

Jingle All The Way

I have always loved the holiday saying

"Jingle all the Way!" 

I think its so cute and festive!
Whenever I hear it I think about needing
to stay happy along the journey of the holidays
because sometimes it can get stressful trying to get shopping, baking,
gifting and list checking done!!
 I wanted to make something with that saying on it this year.

What am I using for this project:
I went to the dollar store one day and found a cute silver charger plate. I couldn't pass it up! I also bought a vase there as well. Next, I went to Michael's. I found some super cute glittery ball sticks. They were on sale for 50% off. I couldn't pass them up either. I knew they would go perfect for what I wanted to do.

How to make it:

To start, I wanted my plain clear vase a vibrant Christmas Color. Since the little ball sticks are green and silver I decided on painting it red. I used regular red spray paint to paint it with.

While I was working on spray painting that I got on my computer and designed the "Jingle all the Way" saying. I used the charger plate to put it on so I measured it out and cut it out in red vinyl using my cricut. This way it would tie in the red vase!

I used transfer paper to move it onto the plate. 

When the vase was dry, I put the glittery ball sticks into the vase. I also added red glittery curly cues that I had left over from another project. 

I put them together and wahla....

A Cute, Simple and Cheap Christmas Decor!

I love how it all came together!! 

The final cost for this project was $6.00! Wahoo!!!

Thrift Store Christmas Decor Tutorial

I can't wait to show you what I have today. This is definitely up top with my favorite projects I have done! So let's get to it...

A few weeks ago I went to our local thrift store to
see what I could find to do my crafts.
I went down the frame isle and came across and old oval frame
with quite the beauty of a painting in it...note the sarcasm here!!
 I knew that I could create something Amazing with this frame
so I bought it for a whopping $1.00!

When I came home, I thought about what I wanted to do with it and knew it needed to be something Christmas. So here is what I came up with:

This really was so fun to take something old and make it modern and new!

Here's what I did to make it:

1. The painting was screwed into the frame so I unscrewed it and remove the painting. 

2. Then I took the frame and spray painted it red.

3. I bought some fabric to put for the background to cover up the ugly painting. I also bought some little embellishments and ribbon to add to this to spruce it up.

4. Next, I took the fabric and cut it about the size of the oval painting.

5. I took some spray adhesive {my new favorite stuff} and sprayed the painting with it. I did it according to the directions on the can. Then I put the fabric onto the painting. I smoothed that out and let it dry for a bit. Then I took scissors and cut the excess fabric off.

6. I cut some sparkly red ribbon to fit in the spot I wanted it to on the board. I also used adhesive spray to glued that onto the board.

7. Now is the fun part...figuring out the embellishments. It took me a minute to get it just right, but finally came up with this:

8. Lastly, I cut out the words "Joy to the World" in brown vinyl on the circut and transferred those onto to the fabric.

There you have it!! Super fun and SHABBY CHIC Christmas Decor from a Thrift Store Frame!!

St. Nick Blocks

This last February I showed you some Valentine's Blocks 

that my mom, sister's and I all made HERE. 

This is what they looked like:

My cute sister in law that a super idea to put St. Nick on the back of them!! 

What a perfect idea! 

So this year we all did just that!

**Before we start, I am so SORRY about the pictures. I did the project in a hurry to get it done and out of the way of things so they aren't the best pictures!!

Here is the back of the blocks:

How I made these:

1. I cut out Christmas scrapbook paper to fit the size of each block. 

2. Next, I mod podged the paper to the blocks. 

3. Then in brown vinyl I cut out St. Nick to fit the size of each block as well. I also cut out a Christmas tree in green vinyl. I then transferred those over to the blocks.

4. I put a coat of mod podge over the paper to protect it and give it a nice shine. 

Lastly, I added a few embellishments to some of the blocks to dress it up a little. 

I love how they turned out! 

And I also love that I have a decor for 2 holidays out of 1 now!

Oh Come Let Us Adore HIM

A few months ago while I was browsing through Pinterest I saw a sign that said, 

"Oh come let us adore Him." 

I fell in love with the idea of putting this up on a sign for the Christmas season.

It took awhile to figure out just what I wanted to do, but I finally figured it out.

For this project I am going to use pallet boards. 

My hubby cut a pallet up for me so I have lots of boards from that. 

*To be honest what I did first TOTALLY FAILED. I was so not happy. I wanted to spray paint it and leave the wood for the letters. I did a sample and loved it, but when I did it on the project you could not even see the letters so I had to go about doing this differently. Its ok though...I love how it did turn out!

What I did was spray paint the whole board green. I had to do lots of coats on it. I lost count because of having to redo the whole thing.

I didn't really want it this bright of green. I wanted it soft and old looking, but because I had to repaint over the letters this is what I got.

While that was drying I got on my cricut and designed the saying how I wanted it. I pulled the letters off so I had the silhouette of them because I want to paint them on.

This is what it looked like:

Next, I transferred that over to my pallet boards.

I got out red craft paint and silver paint and got to work. 

I put 2 coats of paint on everything.

After that dried all the way I pulled the vinyl off.

Here is what it looks like finished:

I am definitely happy with the outcome after the mishap to begin with!!
